Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Muyan, South Fergana. N.P. Vasilkovsky, 1941 (125, p. 169).

Synonym: Muyanskaya Suite, Муянская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Malinovye, gray clays, sandstones with layers of conglomerates, limestones, and dolomites, locally (Kan) layers of gypsum. Thickness up to 100m. Along A.V. Sochava (434), lower part of the Albian and subdivided into the Lower Muyan (Barremian-Aptian) and Upper Muyan (lower part of the Albian) sub-suites


Lithology Pattern: 
Clayey sandstone

Lower contact

Overlies transgressively the Middle Jurassic

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Lyakan Fm

Regional extent

South and Central Fergana.
